Do you have any vacancies for 2008 and 2009?
Our intakes for 2008 and 2009 are complete.
How many training contracts do you offer?
Eight to twelve each year.
Do you pay LPC and CPE/PgDL?
We pay fees for the LPC and provide a maintenance grant for the duration of the course. We consider financial support for the CPE/PgDL on a discretionary basis.
How many trainees stay on after qualification?
Ince & Co's ethos is based on retaining trainees to be the future assistants and partners of the firm. We offer postions on qualification to all those who meet our standards.
Should I apply if my degree is lower than a 2:1?
Only if you have strong mitigating circumstances; otherwise, we are looking for a minimum 2:1 degree.
Do you take on non-law students?
About 40% of fee-earners did a subject other than law. We welcome applications from non-law students. If candidates can show a high level of achievement in any subject, combined with a commitment to the law and the right personality we will view their application with an open mind. We have trainees with first degrees in naval architecture, philosophy, drama and economics.
Do you take on mature applicants?
Yes. In the past we have recruited trainees who have had prior work experience of between four and six years. We are particularly interested in applicants who are embarking on a second career after a career in an area of work in which the firm practises.
Do you keep in contact with trainees before they join the firm?
Yes. Claire Kendall visits all trainees during their LPC year. She will also liaise with them to seek work placements in gap years with clients or contacts of the firm.
Do trainees socialise outside work?
Ince & Co is a very sociable firm. Teams working on cases often go out for lunch or after work drinks. The Ince & Co social calendar is always full and our monthly get togethers are extremely popular with all staff.
Do you attend law fairs?
Yes. Click here for a list.
Would an LLM help my application?
If you are genuinely interested in doing an LLM, then you should do so. While an LLM, may, in some cases, be an indicator of an individual candidate’s aptitude, it will never be a determinative factor in the selection process.
Do we employ paralegals?
Yes. If you would be interested in a paralegal position please send a CV to recruitment@incelaw.com.
