As one of the busiest ports in Asia, Singapore is an international maritime centre, and the regional focus for shipping, shipbuilding, shipbroking, the offshore and marine engineering industry, commerce, finance and, increasingly, for insurance and reinsurance. It is also fast becoming the venue of choice for maritime law and arbitration in Asia.
Our lawyers are widely recognised for their expertise in negotiating, litigating and advising on "wet" (Admiralty) matters (e.g. collision, salvage and pollution), "dry" contractual and tortious disputes (e.g. charterparties, bills of lading, international trade and commodities), shipbuilding (e.g. design/build, newbuilding contracts) and energy matters (e.g. operational start-up issues and the entire spectrum of upstream contracting), LNG production and shipping, marine insurance and reinsurance, sale and purchase of second-hand tonnage and, increasingly, ship finance. We are also experienced in English and Singapore law arbitrations in the above industry areas.
Our clients consist of shipowners, charterers, shipbuilders, shipyards, insurers, the offshore industry, traders, banks and other financial institutions amongst others.
In March 2011 Ince & Co Singapore entered into a Formal Law Alliance (FLA), the Ince Law Alliance, with Singapore law practice Incisive Law LLC. The licence for the FLA (Section 130C) falls within Chapter 161 of the Legal Profession Act under the Legal Profession (International Services) Rules, Rule 8(4) and is granted by the Attorney-General in Singapore.
Through this Alliance our clients are able to receive advice on Singapore law and representation in the Singapore courts and in domestic arbitrations as well as advice on multi-jurisdictional transactions involving English and Singapore law. As permitted by the terms of the licence, Ince & Co and Incisive Law LLC are sharing the same office premises.
