International law firm Ince & Co has announced today the recruitment of Jennifer Donohue, a market-leading transactional lawyer who specialises in the insurance and reinsurance markets. Jennifer’s practice is at the cutting edge and her wealth of experience will add further strength to Ince & Co’s transactional offering to its insurance clients and those in its other core sectors.
Jennifer is a lawyer and a mathematician and her experience includes advising on financings in the insurance and banking sectors based upon forensic engineering and modelling. This includes the provision of regulatory capital, Solvency II and techniques such as the use of derivatives, insurance linked securities and monetisations. Her further experience includes advising insurance companies on mergers and acquisitions, capitalisations, reorganisations, structuring, policy and product development, and pre-insolvency strategies. She also advises on cross-border EC directives in the European single insurance market and governments on the drafting of insurance legislation. She is well known for her work in longevity risk, restructuring for insurance companies and pension deficits.
Jennifer’s recruitment forms part of Ince & Co’s agreed strategy to build its transactional capability in its core sectors of aviation, energy, insurance, international trade and shipping and to extend new business technologies to these sectors. The firm recently promoted corporate and finance specialists Beatrice Russ (London), Christopher Quandt (Hamburg) and Devandran Karunakaran (Singapore) to partner. Furthermore, the firm recently recruited corporate specialist Paul Emmanuel Benachi in Shanghai.
Jan Heuvels, Ince & Co’s International Senior Partner, commented:
“I am excited about the potential for growth that Jennifer brings to our firm. We have taken a strategic decision to grow our transactional practice in our core sectors and Jennifer’s recruitment marks another significant step in achieving our goal. In addition to the expertise that Jennifer will bring to our insurance clients, many of the techniques in which she specialises offer considerable opportunities for clients in our other core sectors.”
Jennifer Donohue commented:
“I am thrilled to be joining a firm with such a strong brand which is dedicated to strengthening its transactional capability in its core sectors. The specialist skills that I have developed, and often pioneered, offer huge opportunities for many of Ince & Co’s existing clients. Coupled with the new clients that I will bring to the firm, the opportunities for growth are considerable.”
Prior to joining Ince & Co Jennifer was a partner at Locke Lord in London. Prior to joining the Locke Lord she was Head of Insurance & Reinsurance at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP.
