Jan heads up Ince & Co's Reinsurance Group and is the managing partner of the firm's Hamburg office. He divides his time between London and Hamburg. Jan joined the firm in 1993 having graduated with a law degree from Hertford College, Oxford and following a work placement with the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).

Jan became a Partner in 2002 and has a broad international insurance practice with strong industry links in the London and international insurance markets including Germany (he is a member of the Hamburg Bar), Bermuda, the United States, Scandinavia and Australia. He is a past-chair of the Insurance Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) and a member of the Insurance Institute of London (IIL) and the British Insurance Law Association (BILA).
